Advertising Policy

Last updated: July 30, 2024

We go to great lengths to ensure our readers can trust our content. The whole point of Does It Work?™ is to separate the facts from the advertising claims – it’s our whole schtick. As such we’re very picky about what advertising we align with our content.

General guidelines

  1. We maintain full discretion over the kinds of ads that will appear on Does It Work?™. We can decide to accept, reject, cancel, or remove any ads at any time and for any reason.
  2. All Ads are clearly marked. If it’s an advertisement or sponsored content it will ALWAYS be clearly labelled that way.
  3. We don’t endorse any product or service marked as an advertisement. That is, just because you see an advertisement doesn’t mean we endorse that product or service.
  4. The ads on our site are independent of our content. Advertisers and sponsors, whether current or potential, do not influence the work we produce in any way.

Advertiser Guidelines

  1. We don’t allow advertisers from our content categories due to the obvious conflict in messaging. Specifically:
    • Dietary supplements
    • Beauty products
(Collectively – pills, tonics, lotions & health potions)
  2. Advertisements must be legal, decent and truthful; and must comply with the relevant laws, regulations and industry codes for the geographic area where it will be seen. It falls with the advertiser’s responsibility to meet these legal criteria.
  3. Prohibited Products and Services:
    • Tobacco and alcohol
    • Illegal drug related products
    • Firearm related products
    • Payday lenders
    • Gambling related products and services
    • Dating services
    • Pornography
    • Adult content services in general
  4. Prohibited Ad Content
    • Depictions of violence
    • Depictions of substance abuse
    • Sexual or adult explicit content
    • Degrading content
    • Political content
    • Religious content
    • Discriminatory content
    • Third-party infringement
